The Latch Lock precisely fits between an ammo can lid latch and the ammo can body. Once in place behind the ammo can lid latch, a tab protrudes through the existing hole in the latch where a compatible padlock (LINK TO COMPATIBLE LOCKS LIST) is installed. This creates a binding action that prevents the lid latch from operating normally. 

Since the latch can not swing up and open, the Latch Lock and compatible padlock prevents the ammo can from being opened when properly installed.
